SOME types of blennies nip at clam mantles . I'll have to have a poke through some books cause I dont remember which ones do off the top of my head.

Well, couldn't find a blenny under that name . From what I read on their temperments, I guess they're kind of like pygmy angelfish in that a handful of individuals will decide that clam mantles taste good, while a majority do not. I'm not sure if you want to take the risk, but if your LFS is willing to take it back, should the blenny have such an appetite, it might be something I'd try. Definitely start with the clam in the sand though
