Cichlids Pics

is the tank you are going to move them into cycled ?
make sure you have asn esablished filter in it or it is fully cycled as fry are very sensitive to ammonia and n02
found the lead few pics of the new fry :)

Yes, I set that tank up with established media from my 40 gallon tank ( i love that I can do that.) I have dosed the ammonia up to 2ppm (which is way more than the babies and food will put out) and it turns it to nitrates overnight. I just need to do a water change (or 2) to lower the nitrates. And those babies are SOOO cute!!

very cool i do the same myself if i dont have a free tank. i will leave these fry in the net breeder for a week or 2 and feed them up on artemia then they will get there own tank all to them selves :-*)

I moved my babied into their new home. They look even tinier in the 10 gallon than they did in the net!

There are some fake plants in there. I am skeptical of real ones because last time i brought in real plants i ended up with a back snail infestation and some really fat clown loaches lol. but where could i find some java moss? or other plants the babies will enjoy? And how do I keep them from bringing in snails?

i ordered mine on ebay so i did but most pet stores have it.

snails are a different storey you can rinse the plants in a bucket before putting in your tank to reduce the chances of snails, but it can be hard let the loaches get fat i say he he:)

I found some at my LFS and also added some real plants in addition to the fake one to make sure the babies are comfortable. Although, without the threat of adults they do spend quite a lot of time exploring the tank. We lost one to the filter (it tried to swim through the sponge that is over the intake :( ) but while doing tank maintanance on the larger tank, i stir up some babies and rescued 5 more from the adult tank lol. We have 18 babies now in our fry tank. This is what I have so far. If you have any ideas on how I can make them a little more comfortable (i have half the tank with open space, and half planted. the pics are of the planted side, as the other side of the tank is bare. The babies spend alot of time in the bare side surprisingly.)

Thank you. I thought about an air bubbler and stuff like that, but I don't think I am going to save anymore fry. I just wanted some "homegrown" ones to add to my tank. Thank you for the advice though. Anything I can learn to make my fish happier is great.
