Cichlasoma Salvini

I have been considering getting a Cichlasoma salvini from my LFS for a little while but dont really know much about them, They look quite dull at the moment but the owner assures me that they will colour up amazingly with age. What are their basic requirements, and any other info about them? Thankyou

salvini are a beautifull fish but they are a very aggressive fish. they have very sharp teeth that will shred fins no problem. they should adapt to most water parameters except for the extremes like most fish but will probably need to be in a species only tank with a decent sized group to keep the aggression spread amongst them.

i wouldnt trust them with smaller fish like tetras etc and when i had one it was aggressive towards much bigger cichlids.

stunning fish but they can and probably will give you a headache in a com tank
