Cichilids Vs. Red Belly Piranhas?

hey

i have 8 red belly piranhas, if i put a cichilid or 2 in there, will the piranha kill the cichilid, or cichilid kill the piranhas, or will they get along?? i just wanna find something to put in my piranha tank to "spice things up a bit?" any ideas??

depends on the cichlid.
if it was like a dempsey or oscar (large)
it also depends on the size of the piranhas.
if the piranhas are small and the oscar is big, the piranhas may get eaten.

4 of my red bellys are like 3" or 4" and 4 are 1 and a half"

cool. an oscar of about the same size would be good. it's also good to get fish used to each other at a young age so theres an extra bonus!

Any fish kept with pirahna are potential meals including other pirahna.

Really think pirahna's are species only tanks, its a gamble putting anything with them and isn't worth the risk.

DONT DO IT.

It will end in tears. As CFC said, any fish in a piranha tank is a potential meal and putting chiclids in with them is asking for trouble.
