hi all.. well chuffed i am, as i managed to win this of ebay, i paid a little more than i could afford, but it looks amazing.. now heres the fun part, it doesn't fit in my tank so it's time for a new build with this as the centre piece. so does anyone know of a good place to buy a tank+lid+lighting from?

size of tank i'd like about 150x65x50

Lovely bit of wood. Try Seapets, they have some good deals with tank/cabinet combos. I just got my new one from there.

give Windsor aquatics a look. they have supported this forum, for years.

i thought of seapets but the only one big enuff is the aqua and i'd rather buy my own filter etc :)

just tried Windsor aquatics getting a quote for a tank now :) thx

hi all :) tank will be 160x48x55 cm now

well still haven't sorted out where i'm get'n the tank from but i'm starting the design process :) (propa excited..lol.) at the moment i have just sand as a substrate, my plants are ok but not great.. i was thinking about using this Caribsea Eco-Complete on its own. but i'm also thinking about split'n my tank into 2 parts. so i'd use complete for 2/3 left to right(as i want main planting around my large bogwood+ a good carpet of hair grass+ maybe a moss or Hemianthus callitrichoides. then finish of with sand with a little eco in the corner for a feature plant to grow where the filter pipe will be. so my questions being has anyone used this substrate and also will separating substrates like this work.. i think i might be bite'n off more than i can chew.. but gota try init :)

ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED ..THANKYOU! :D

That's hell of a nice piece of wood! Would look amazing with loads of anubias attached!
I would suggest ND aquatics too :) But I think you have to supply your own lighting unit though.

I use Eco-Complete and it's pretty good. Not the easiest of stuff to plant into (but then I have blind albino corys that crash into everything, uprooting my plants in the process before they can establish a good root system :p). I don't know if it releases nutrients into the water, but my anubias have exploded with growth since using it. I've mixed it with normal sand in the past too without any problems :)

i've been playing around..lol. and i think the tanks layout is going to be something like this. i have no idea about plants though. :( the back left i want tall grass, back right i want a large show plant and i'd also like a carpet of some sort. :)
suggestions please, all are welcome and needed :)
my base units about to arrive, i decided to go with a galway oak unit from oak furniture land---
Code:

(i''ll get someone to reinforce it slightly) just need to sort the tank out now..lol. i'm off to the greenmachine in wrexham next week to have a look @ opti-white glass tanks etc, cant wait as the website looks awesome :)

THANKS!

it cost me £100, but its a big piece and has a lovely shape to it. more than i wanted to pay but i thought it would just be amazing in the tank(once i get one) and ideas on my planting?

I got my tank from all pond solutions, and in all haven't been disappointed. Not overly superb cabinet quality but once together is sturdy and looks fine. have also seen that they have added a new range of tanks to their products and they look really nice, better quality by looks of it. Think they come with t5 over tank light units too. Might be worth a look :)

Edit: you might want to scrap the above as I just read you have already got your base unit! Sorry.

max1e, I have been looking for aquarium driftwoods, for the last 2 months.
I have at least bookmarked 10 different sites that sell driftwood, and saved 15 ebay sellers.

So, I can say I understand you :)

By the way, can you tell me the ebay seller where you got that piece?

Cheers

i always thought having a fish tank was meant to be relaxing! lol.

i got mine from this guy
