I posted a week or so ago that I had raised the water level too high and my betta, Ula, jumped his divider into Kai's side of the tank. Well, I just don't know what to do, he started doing it again about 2 days ago, but only when there was food involved, but now he's doing it all the time for no reason. He just jumps over there. THey don't fight (it's a miracle in a split 2.5!!) just a few bites, then they stay out of each other's ways. But this is still not safe for the both of them! THe other day, he jumped in, bit Kia's tail and jumped back!! Has anyone else had this problem?? I'm going to have to separate him :( tonight.

i would lower the water level, although moving him is probably best cause theres no dounbt he would still try to jump. something sorta like that happened to me. awhile back when i was just starting the hobby i had 2 dwarf gouramis and they fought so i put a divider in and one got over somehow (i never saw how but i don't think he junped cause it was hooded and the water level was pretty high i think he got under cause there was a gap from the bottom of the divider and the gravel) but he only did this once.

That happens. Either heighten your divider, or get a low, secure lid so he can't do it. He's figured out that he can, and will continue to do it until you physically make it impossible for him to jump it.

Here is the tank:

Yeah, I think he is going to be moved into a one gal and the boy in there will be moved into Ula's old compartment. Yeah, I think he knows he can do it, so he's going to do it all the time.

Ah, ha, good idea! That way I wouldn't have to shift everyone around. Thank you!!!
