You like next step changing gravel to snad.

Get rid of that background and the gravel, too much going on imo

What's on the other side of the background? Mine is black on one side and landscape on the other, I use the black side.

But either way a black background would look great. IMO it's better than blue, seems to be a more neutral color, and there's very few fish that wont' show up in good contrast against it, and it gives pictures a greater look of depth. You've got some nice plants in there, and some spots they get lost in the background, which isn't nearly so nice. You might feel the need to add more plants after you swap the background to fill out the greenery. Go with that and it should be stunning.

hey Jess love the animal tank - it's great i've never seen one like that before looks great with the sand :)
It's really colourful and fun and not too many ornaments - i do really like it .
have you decided which fish you're going for yet hun ?

once again great job on the animal tank

take care

if you are a great fish keeper (like you said) and 'know' whats 'right' for your fishies, then get some live plants. get rid of the crap fake stuff, it will make your tank look 10x better.

some people just dont feel comfortable having live plants and havent got the confidence to keep them - fish get on well with fake plants .

Jess have you found out about marimo moss balls cos they are a great live ball that just sits in your tank , it doesnt' require much light and it competes with the algae for nutrients (cos its a type of algae themselves) , they are not that expensive at LFS or ebay and look great in a tank :) and are good as a first little plant to build confidence - they also dont need feeding :)

good luck and keep up the excellent work

First I do love the animal tank. it is tacky but in a kids room or something its just perfect. the sand helps make it work too.

As you you tank as said. plain backround and sand will make the tank less cluttered to look at. I prefer the blue but not stuck tight to the glass soo it gets a darker colour and some shades that go well with the plants.

Well all i'm not reall going to have the tank like that as said my and my neighbour were bored so just played around - i'm going to have fake plants and maybe a few real but probably not.

As for stocking read the thread of cycling in tropical discussion. :good:

Nick16 just for the record i never said i am a GREAT fishkeeper i ma nowhere near that and i''m sure they'll be able to survive with fake plants but thanks anyway.

Going to see if they do marimo moss balls in p@h :D

Thanks for all tips others as well :hyper:
