i have a 48x15x12 tank but just noticed it has 2 chips in the front glass of the tank,

they are on the inside of the tank and are about 2mm in size and about 12-15mm apart from each other.

just wanted to know if its dangerous and is it likely to smash or crack open and flood the lounge and downstairs flat?

the glass does look pretty thick(about 6-7mm) but just a bit worried?

A picture or two would help. I run tanks downstairs with chips, all in the corners. Haven't had one leak yet, but concrete with a floor drain makes me worry a lot less.

I would not run it if there is a chance of damage to your house from water.

Wow, those look small, nice & easy to compare with the heater & filter intake in the picture.

I have tanks with 4-5mm chips in the corners, and have had no leakage or breaking issues. I would say just keep an eye on it. There are no 100% guarantees with any tank, even a new one.

thanks, i keep my eye on it, till i buy a new one,

thanks again.

Since fish tanks usually arent tempered, the chip will turn into a crack if anything is going to happen. Once you see that crack developing, you should replace the tank asap.

Edit: Whoops, didnt see the date, just clicked similar topics
