hi guys Does any one know how i can encorage my male fighter to build a bubble nest. I have not got a female yet do i need one befor he will make one ?
thanks alex

Not all males build bubblenests, some built them when there happy other build them after mating  breeding takes alot of time and effort so if your thinking of breeding then you need to do lots of reasearch

if you are serious about breeding them though there's a good few of us giving breeding ago soon so we would be happy to help :good:

ok ye i have a seperate tank to start the breeding is there any books or web sites i could look at or buy ?

ok i have been reading articles on the internet and i have decided i am going to try and breed my betta.
Befor i start would any one be able to answere a couple of questions i am not sure on.
1. How soon do i have to seperate the male babbys to stop them killing each other ?
2. I have found most articles say have no gravel on the floor of the tank. Can i have gravel in the tank?
3. People are saying have 2 females to one male does this have to be this way or can i just have one ?
Many thanks alex

*As soon as you start to see aggression, theres no certian age, apparently earlier in PKs than longfins

*A bare bottomed tank is best otherwise the male won't be able to get to the fallen eggs/fry

*The actual spawn only needs the 1 female however some breeders condition 2 for two reasons
~ as a back up incase the first female doesn't bond/isn't ready
~to give the male a choice and encourage breeding to take place as a rival female is present

Hope this helps Alex :good:
