i know theyre getting ready to produce when this is happening but how long before i see eggs? i bought 6 cherrys and 3 of them are saddling...the last was wasnt until yesterday. ive had them all for a lil over a week and theyre doing good.

the tank is 5 gal...temps at 76-77 (which i heard is good for breeding?) and they share the tank with a dwarf puffer. the dps small and he doesnt bother them at all.

when to expect eggs to show?

Next time the shrimp with the saddle sheds her skin she should release hormones into the water to attract the males, they should breed and she will have eggs soon afterwards.

I would expect the dwarf puffer to eat the babies when they are born unfortunatly.

im hoping that my tank is planted dense enough that he wont be able to find them...i have a chunk of java fern on a piece of lava rock...maybe theyll find refuge. if not its no big deal...i was just hoping to keep a few because these boogers are 8 dollars here! outrageous!!

You could always set up a small tank and just move the berried female into it until the eggs hatch, then let them establish a colony in there.

I would consider a second tank, even at 4 dollars a go you could make a killing selling them locally. They sell for about £1 each here, i wish i could sell them for that much
