Can these guys both live together, red cherry shrimp and a chines algea eater??

My friend is giving me a 2g tank, to breed red cherry shrimps, I want later on when the shrimps are ypooung adults and adults to move some to my 10g tank which hosts 2 mollies 4 appls snails and 1 which I call wicked mean chines algea eater (cuz he's a bully)

If I mix these guys together could/will the cherry shrimps live together in harmany? (Pretty sure I spelt that wrong)

Thanks in advance for any info :)

Chinese algae eaters often cant live with anything in harmony, but most of the shrimp will be fine. Some babies may be munched by him, and if an adult moults and is found it may be eaten.

I take it you know about the CAE's bad reputation anyway? Could get worse and harm you mollies, if it were me I would rehome him, I've known them to go nasty and kill fish in a few cases, and you'll find a few horror stories if you look online too  .

On the other hand, it is true that some individuals are fine and never get too aggressive, it's just a risk :).

lol wow that little bit i didnt know about chines algae eater but how would i remove him if he does become like that with my other fish's?? i cant kill him! even though my wife askd me if i wantd to put a hit on him (she really wants to kill him), i cant put a hit on my own fish lol but any advice on geting rid of him if it gets to that point??
also on a quick note, RCS are great algae eater right? would they eat string like algae that grows on my moss and also some black algae that grows on the stems of my plants, would they eat that aswell??

thnaks for your help

Just bring him into an lfs, you wont get any money/credit for him, but people sometimes buy them for tanks with very fast moving nippy fish or to try them out with cichlids.

They'd eat the string algae, but I'm not sure about the other algae.

my amanos eat black algae so maybe you could get 4 of them they mix well with all types of dwarf shrimp

great will do,

this is going to sound dumb but are amanos like/are ghost shrimp?

and what do cherry shrimp eat/clean up??

im hoping at lease some string algae cuz i have lots of that

but thanks again for the advice :)

Not really :). More like bigger, more robust cherry shrimp. Ghost shrimp tend to be a little more fragile, and don't eat nearly as much algae.
and what do cherry shrimp eat/clean up??
Fish food and they will constantly graze on soft algae on things like wood and rocks, as well as green hair algae of plant leaves. Amanos are much more vigorous with their algae eating though.

thanks for the heads up three-fingers for the info on the shrimps, but another question

if i was to buy an amano shrimp from a fish store would there name be amano shrimp ?? or another name ??

Most of the time IME it's "algae shrimp".

Amano shrimp, japonica shrimp, freshwater shrimp and marsh shrimp are the other names I've seen in order of popularity :).
