Cherry Shrimp Pictures

ok me bad shout.gif blush.gif, but in my defence i was thinking about keeping them together ,,,,,not breeding them.
Still, most shrimp will interbreed with each other if given the choice. Neocaridinas (cherries, yellows, snowballs, dark greens,...etc) are especially fast breeders that will mate with the closest possible candidate.

I've found this link that might help... it shows which common species of dwarf shrimp will interbreed with each other. You can potentially keep up to 4 or 5 species together if you choose carefully. Of course getting the species of shrimp you want so you can have a good mix might not be so easy in the UK.

Shrimp of the same family such as caridina or neocaridina will interbreed causing a mutant shrimp to be born. DO NOT MIX SHRIMP OF THE SAME FAMILY.

Its not a mutant. A mutant is a being affected by a genetic change. A hybrid is created.
Very nice, I stuck this blue shrimp in with my cherrys and it bred with them and now I have mostly the wild form (must have been what the blue one was) but still have a lot of cherrys plus I have rainbows, bumblebees and tigers in the tank too.
