Some pics of my albino cheryy barbs in their outdoor tub. They're doing great in there...

The weather has been already fine for a little while. Outdoor temps at day of 22°C and up. These fish have a good temperature tolerance. They's just doing fine outdoors...

What species can live outdoors where the daytime temperatures range from 75-95F?

Any fish you can think of can be outside under those conditions . They live in the wild that way so why not with us ? The main thing to pay attention to is the size of your outdoor set up . Too small and nighttime temperatures could cool it off too much . You won’t have them outside that long either in northern areas , only about as long as your garden , about mid May to early September . To be safe keep cooler water fish outside . White Clouds , Paradise Fish and livebearers . I’ve heard that guppies will die off at the first frost so that’s something to think about . I’ve had Betta’s spawn outdoors in the summer in a 35 gallon tub with Water Lettuce and it was fun to watch . I raised a lot of good healthy fry because the infusoria that occurred naturally must have been abundant . I never fed them until they got bigger which was fast . That 90 day sweet spot worked perfectly .

Thanks. In a 35 gallon tub, do you use a filter of any kind? What is the maintenance?

No , I didn’t use a filter or an airstone . You have to see the roots of a full grown Water Lettuce . It’s big and long and thick and dense , a perfect natural filter . I did have a heater in there in case the temperature dropped at night but I don’t know if it ever came on . I did an occasional water change but once the pair spawned I removed the adults and the fish load wasn’t very high . I think with something other than the Betta’s a sponge filter would be a good idea . Most fish need the water circulation and turnover .

If we ever get a bigger yard, I want to have a small, seasonal pond that my fish can spawn in (and gorge on live food). Then I'd move them into a large trough in the garage for the winter.
I’ve always had in mind a big , deep pond . About 10 by 12 feet or so and about 4 feet deep . I’d have sunfish in it . Pumpkinseeds , whatever you call them and maybe a small native catfish . Would that be cool or what ?
