my grandmother bought me 6 cherry barbs for my birthday and ive never had them before. id like to know how to breed them what they eat and such. plz help.

Just feed them some flake food, i use tetra min it's only about £3. Also give em some live food about twice a week, mine prefer bloodworm. Also what size tank is it?
I don't know about breeding. They don't fin nip and are a peaceful fish.

I have 36 that I raised by myself. The parents bred in a planted 8g and though I'm sure they ate eggs, enough fry survived. The fry are easy to raise and are rather large. I could easily start them on newly hatched brine shrimp and finely crushed prepared foods. There was also a healthy supply of organic matter in the tank, so the fry were able to forage on their own. Males can be territorial and I often have minor scuffles between dominant males, there are several from various batches of fry. Nothing serious, only a nipped fin here and there.
