hi all
i have a quiet community set up in a 60 litre biorb with 4 cherry barbs 2 guppies 2 sword tails and 5 neon tetras i have some plants in the tank and the artificial rock work in the centre
i think one of my cherry barbs is ready to spawn she's gone very fat and has a redish colour to her sides near her tail if she is spawning what happens next and what chance is there of fry surviving as i don't have a breeding tank

The females are the brownish fish and when they swell up it usualy dose mean they are ready to breed.

This however dose not mean they will breed.

Usualy the male will start to chase the female and when spawning they both dash in and around plants to hide the eggs as all fish love to eat eggs.

If ant fry hatch they will soon be eaten by all the other fish, they are very weak and hine on the plants and the glass, which make then simple targets for the fish.

If you rearly want to breed them, you should think of setting up a simple breeding tank, marbels on the bottom to hide the eggs and a few spawning mops to catch the eggs.

Once they have spawned remove the adualts and wait to see if you got babies.

Then it the difficualt part in rearing them and they need tiny foods.
Newly hatched brine shrimp will feed week old fry, but u have to get them to that stage first.
