I keep going to lfs for plants for my tank its a 190litre corner tank.
I want some plants that dont need any looking after apart from ocassional cutting back.
Does anyone have any ideas of plants as so far I only have one live plant in my tank cause my lfs has ones that always die on me.
No one in the shop seems to know anything about plants.
There used to be a goodish shop in town but its went out of business cause of the tram preperation.
Does anyone have any ideas what plants I can use and if anyone has an excess of suitable plants they dont want I would be willing to take them
Thanks

maybe go for some hornwort, cabomba or hygrophilia polysperma, something like that will be fairly easy to keep alive and not require a lot of maintenance. if you go over to the planted tanks forum and ask there someone may be willing to donate some to you.

I used to keep java fern and java moss, which seemed to grow pretty well without the need for high maintenance.

Agree with the hygrophila. I'd maybe also try crypt nevelli, anubias nana (if you have some wood), hair grass and moss balls.

Where are you based?

Im in Edinburgh one lfs Ive found doesnt sell plant another closed down so all thats left is pets at home.
Ive had 5 plants form them and they have all died apart from one that doesnt look too healthy. Since then Ive been told they sell plants that arent totally aquatic

Pooh bear,

I have willow tree in my tank. It needs next to no looking after. I have too much in my tank so if you want some PM me. I work in edinburgh (Dalkeith or Tranent) so could either meet you or post you some.

Cheers

Craig

Egeria Densa is a good easy to look after plants, grows very quick also Cabomba, Amazon sword, Java moss, Java fern

To be honest I'd order online.

There are some really good online specialist that offer a variety of plants for the under £10 including postage!

I beleive most stores sell plants for about £3.50 a pop and most of them die really quickly.

If you want me to PM you a link of a store I used let me know.

Hi Poohbear,

I'm in East Lothian just down the road from you. Its always good to meet another local TFF member.

The best shop for plants in the Edinburgh area is without doubt Outside Inside Aquatics in Haddington.

http://www.outsideinsideaquatics.co.uk/

Get yourself down there for some plants. The owner, Hugh, is a good guy and will give you some good plants and advice.

There is nowhere to rival their plants in Edinburgh, The Lothians or Fife in my opinion.

Good luck
