I can't find napoensis friends for my female. I was thinking of getting some san juans to go with her because they look almost the same. I thought they might work together.
While researching I found out that she is actually a type of elegans, and that the two kinds can and will breed. Is this true?
I am trying to find suitable tank mates for her, but I don't want to do something bad.
If I can't put her with the elegans... what about the san juans? Will they breed? Do you think they would befriend her?
My other corys won't let her in their groups.

It is really hard to find this kind of info not knowing what I am looking for exactly.
If anyone knows about this... please help me out.

Thanks! :good:

Hi ICEEGRL :)

You don't have to worry about any of your corys breeding together. Since they are egg layers, you can just remove any questionable eggs that result. If you did spot any eggs, you could then remove her and any eggs that appeared in that tank afterward would be fine.

I never hesitate to buy a lone cory at the lfs, even though I (and the fish) would prefer more. I always thought they would get along with a mix of corys better than they would if they ended up alone in someone else's goldfish tank, and I've never had any evidence that I was wrong. :D

I thought that until now. The others won't let her in the group so she is always alone. I have watched her try to get close to them, and they will just leave her or run her off. The only one I have that I have not tried her with are the elegans. I have the elegans in the breeding tank.
I only had 2 elegans. I got lucky though. They turned out to be male and female. They just spawned. I had 25 hatch, and I am now down to 15 fry. I hope to get atleast 5 to live. If I do then they will come out of the breeding tank. I just wanted to get the numbers up so they wouldn't hide so much. This is their first spawn. When they come out of the breeding tank she can go in with them. I hope they will take her into their little group.

Once I get a few fry to live... could I put their group in a 10g with a betta? Would the betta mess with them? I don't want anything to happen to them.

Thanks for helping. :good:
