check this gourami out

WHOA that thing is HUGE I think that is an opaline gourami, that is scary!!!!

I'm no expert, but I think it's a Giant Gourami, hence the name, they get BIG, haven't ever got one though. When they are young they are white and grow up to be more of a gray, althought there might be other varieties.

definatly not a giant gourami. Giant Gouramis are actually very small forr gouramis. Max size 4 Inches. I have one and they look nothing like that. They are dark colored with bright stripes and orange and blue fins. I also have an Opaline Gourami and it doesnt look like that either but you never know it may be.

That is a BIG FISH. :kewlpics: Holy Cow, how'd he get so big? I can just see my Sunny growing to be that size. He eats non stop. Hope the guy at the LFS where I bought him knew what he was talking about. :kira:
Deb

According to my Baensch Atlas, there is a fish called Giant Gourami (Osphronemus gorami) that can grow up to 70 cm/ 28 inches. I have a feeling there is some other, much smaller Gourami called "Giant Gourami" as well, tho.

There are two kinds of gaint gourami, one which is 4in and another which is the picture well over 2 feet. You really can't keep them unless you have a huge tank.

I saw one of those a couple of months ago, just as big as the one in the picture, when I visited the National Aquarium of New Zealand. Such a cool and huge fish. ;)
