I've had my new tank running for just over a month now it was seeded with filter media from my old tank and all water parameters are good and the fish seem much happier in there new home.

It's a 65 litre Aquastart 500 lightly planted at the moment but will get treated to some more flora soon.

The tank currently has;

5 Zebra Danio

3 Platy

and

6 male Guppies

do you think I'm at my limit or could I get away with a couple more fish maybe a pair of Honey Gouramis?

Cheers

Jon

Well the zebras really need a 4ft tank as they are very fast swimmers, the other fish are ok, you should be able to get away with a pair of honeys but that would be it.

Cheers mate, thanks for the quick reply.

i would swap the zebra's for the honey guarmi or go for smaller danios like glow lights. its good that all your fish appreciate similar water temperature so what ever you chose you should keep with fish from cooler water bodies. neons would be a good choice they could swap straight with the danios

Cheers lloyd, I've had the danios for a while now and am quite attached to them so would really like to keep them if that's an option, they seem much happier in the new tank and appear to have enough swimming room?

Cheers

well its always your call and a 65l is bigger than a 30l which i have seen people keep them in but if you no some one with a bigger tank they would prefer the bigger tank

Cheers mate, I'll have a think about it, if they seemed unhappy I wouldn't hesitate to move them on.

If you mean how can I tell if they seem happy then obviously I can't be 100% sure but they aren't showing any tell tale signs of ill health, no clamped fins, no lethargy they eat well and swim well.

Cheers

IMO Zebra's are OK in a 60...i'm not sure where this 4ft thing has come from, i have read that on here a few times now...granted they are fast swimmers as are most tetras including Rummies, but they are not a large fish with a minimal bioload.

No body can tell if a fish is happy or not, we can go on behaviors and thats it. It's a pity fish don't smile.

iagree a 4ft is large but i would say a 64ltr is to small. they are so active and cover alot of ground in very minimul time

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've decided to keep the Danios, but I'm going to give the Gouramis a miss and maybe get a couple more Platies I've seen some blue ones which look nice.

Cheers
