i got a 20g and 5g, and an aquaclear mini for $24 canadian..

i needed a stand so heres what i did..

went to revy and bought:

4 cinder blocks ($1.70) each
a big piece of particle board.. enough for 2 20gs and a 5g ($5)
and i had some left over vinyl floor tile stuff.. it looks like nice tiling with grout but its actually vinyl.. i used that to cover the particle board cause i knew it would get weakened if it got water logged..

i then went and got a 55 pound bag of sand for $4,
and some paint for the backs of tanks..($4) supposed to cover like 180 feet of surface..

and hooray thats all..
aint the prettiest stand but its cheap !!.
here is a picture of the 5g tank with stand and sand..

it just looked big, but look at the cables on the side of it. and going to that router. the router cant be more than 6 inches long. so really it doesnt look that big.

yea its a 5g.. i rinsed the sand out forever and couldnt get it any cleaner.. just went and bought some filter pads.. cause the sponge in there didnt help clear up the water... hopefully the 2 filter things i bought for it will clear up the water..

my betta pugnax will love the tank

if u want to clean the sand out just put it in ur bath tub and run the cold water for about 15-25 min its should clear up. i like the stand.............nice job

If that sand is from Rona/Revy, you may want to think about yanking it and going to Home Depot and buying Target sand instead...look at my 90 thread to see that I know what I am talking about....thast dust will settle, but ANY kind of current will kick it up again. It is horrible stuff. Lemme guess on the brand name. "Sakrete"

Very bad stuff for aquarium use. Target sand has virtually no dust and costs the same amount.

bah fm.. you're right.. so annoying.. its ok when it settles, but the current is too strong in the tanks.. too strong for bettas so ill have to get diff filters anyways.. but they had some coarse sand that im probably gonna try tomorrow instead..

stupid me bought the fine sand :S.. the coarse stuff is bigger and shouldnt be so annoying.. but maybe ill try home depot.. do you know how much it is? edit: read that its the same price.. dont mind me .. im gonna go pick some up tomorrow.. and i need a corner filter too.. the 5g cant take the stingray filter.. ill have to swap filters from a 10g so they can all live happily ever after >

btw the painting the back of the tank worked wicked.. only took like 2-3 coats and it looks awesome.. the jar of paint was only $4 and ive only used like 1/10th of it.. and i did a 20g tank... the 5g will also be painted.. and one of my 10gs.. the paint is really cool.. looks good ill get pics up once im done all this crap..

i have 2 days off this week so i have to haul ass to get everything done

Good lord.
It looks like someone puked in your tank!

oooo that looks alot better super nice job man, looks ace , but mybe u should try to like stack some of the cinder blocks up so its more close to eye level

meh.... that would look very odd, im about 5'10 or 11' so moving it to eye level would take like 6 more blocks on each side.. and that would scare me... would probably fall over .. i dont mind them being on the floor.. im really the only one that looks at them.. the parents and sister might glance at them walking by, but it really only matters to me.. and i dont mind lying on the floor to look at my fish hahaha

Put a Towel or sumthing over the Blocks then it would look nice :D im just as cheap as the next guy but atleast make it look cool :grr: Towel or blanket over it i think i would do :kana: :eek:sama:
