Well iv got a delivery this morning

Took a bit of figuring out and still avnt got it right

Managed to sort the leak of co2 between the FE and the regulator by using plumbers tape

Got it all in the tank, went to secure the cable tie and pop the plastic bubble counter blew up into about 80 pieces lol

Touch of an elephant me, think I'm going to have to use heavy duty tape or something

Hi Peter,

that looks like the regulator i recieved this morning. Is it the type your ment to screw to hand tightness? i tightened it up a little more with a stilsons.
Do you have a needle valve? You will need one to control the flow of co2 to your glass diffuser. The regulator is not precise enought to do this and will end up destroying NRV's and diffusers.

Its great your going Pressurised C02. nice one

Yeah think my next purchase is going to be a decent quality UK regulator, 3rd time lucky eh! Proper crapped myself when the bubble counter blew up, what a #138## bang it made lol
That regulator came from hong kong

Seems ok like, I just need to get the right amount of pressure on the FE handle, as I experienced before, too much makes things go bang!

Wen ya's say a needle valve do you mean a little knob kinda thing you turn like a tap or volume dial to increase or decrease whatever it is? If so then yeah it's got 1 of those

Here is what you need along with some links to ebay items.

A co2 source, usualy a fire extinguisher. http://www.ebay.co.u...-All-Categories

A co2 gas regulator http://www.ebay.co.u...=item20c6ea1285

Some co2 proof tubing. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3a4fb716d0

A non return valve. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f051976a9

A drop checker & reagent to go in it. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item33777c427c

A bubble counter (I dont use one but a lot of people do) http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4845d1afb3

A co2 diffuser http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35bc88da19

That is for the basic set up, but it will mean that you will have to turn it on & off by hand every day.
If you want that bit automated you will need a solanoid valve. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item519a58c88c

Ther you have it, add up the costs to give you an idea of inital outlay, but once purchased all you will need to do is replace your co2 supply when it runs out.

A lot of those listings are from abroad, but I did a very basic search. Take your time there are bargains to be had.

Tom

This is so helpful! How long would a 2kg fire extinguisher last for, and is it easy to swap the top of the fire extinguisher for the regulator?

Thanks,

Mark

It's really easy to do. Just unscrew the horn on the fire extinguisher and screw on the regulator. Then tighten it up using a wrench. The fire extinguisher will last you about a year before it runs out, so it is well worth doing. I use this method in my tank. Check out my youtube channel and you can see it working http://www.youtube.c...83?feature=mhee

Here are the instructions on how to set it up http://www.ukaps.org....php?f=34&t=266

Can anyone recommend a regulator? I'm struggling to find one that looks right!

Thanks,

M
