... Straits Aquariums Pte Ltd owner Mr Yeo and his sister Ms Diana may not be familiar to many of you but they are known among the Singapore Betta collectors and breeders who do not recognise them. It is a well known fact that the Straits Aquariums Pte Ltd produces world 1st class Show Bettas.

.... Initially, Mr Yeo bred tropical aquarium fish and he started his first spawn of Show Bettas in 2001. By 2004, he had successfully bred an almost perfect Halfmoon Betta of blood red colour. This particular Show Betta participated in the International Betta Congress (IBC). No one had expected it to become the Grand Champiion, but it did, and later it was named the Red Killer

. After this, Mr Yeo experienced most of the grand championship in most of the international Betta competitions such as Thai King Cup, Princess Cup, Singapore Betta Club, Japan Betta Club, etc.

Currently, Mr Yeo breeds and exports a few hundred types of Show Bettas. Among the species he deals with are Halfmoon, Double Tail, Crown Tail and Marble Plakats. The species that are particularly are the full black Round Tail Plakat and the long tail fighting fish, Out of these, the ones that are of highest quality will be classified as Show Bettas....

Commercial breeders not only need to have a sound knowledge in genetics, they also need to maintain detailed records of bloodlines. While it is impossible to predict the end results, the professional breeder had to be fairly sure as to what he wants to achieve.

A case in point is in the development of their Violet Plakat with its unique coloured fringing fins. The breeder had an idea of what they want the fish to look like. In this case, the result was better than expected.

Besides developing new varieties, breeders strive continuously to improve existing strains. The fishes are frequently outcross to increase their robustness.

The Straits Aquariums Pte Ltd (established in 1966) had been breeding fancy bettas since 2001. Their bettas had won numerous accolades at international competitions including the Commercial Grand Champion for 2003-2004 Show Year, organised by the International Betta Congress.

I"m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt..and think that you are being facetious . (because the picture on that website is the exact same picture Clueless posted...not a "brother". But, I'm sure you knew that..right?)

I'll never understand why some people feel the need to go out of their way to make themselves look like jacka$$es.

I didn't post this as a bash...just some FYI for everyone who was wanting fish from this person..so they didn't send this person money and never get any fish in return.

I wasn't even looking for this either..I googled "halfmoon" and a bunch of websites came up...when I clicked on this one..that was the first fish I saw. I was like "OMG I KNOW THAT FISH!!!!".
