I picked up this little guy on Friday after finding an LFS that finally stocks snakeheads.

The pictures are through it's temporary plastic tank, hence the greyness.

Dane, you know these are much better than plecs ;)

Cheers Matt, I say get a ornatipinns haha.

Esfa they are in Parkers in Iron Acton, Yate/Bristol way. They have a lot of nice stuff in at the moment, but a lot (most) of the snakeheads are reserved.

I know Wildwoods has 2 in stock, saw them yesterday.

Lovely snakehead photos by the way :good:

Cheers kewskills, the LFS I bought mine from also has pulchra of which all were resevered by a breeder, gaucha which again were resevered and bleheri of which I bought one of the two left.

Does he want a group or just one Efsa?

Wildwoods has pulchra, ornatipinnis, gaucha and bleheri, also a couple of other ones cant remember which, i know they are a big species though.

The ornatipinnis look awesome, tad out of my price range right now though :(

they are a very good looking channa indeed, i have 1 which im looking after for a friend, i do have 4 pulchra which are very beautiful, i love them :)

Are you going to breed the pulchra? Far too many of them seem to be coming in for a new species, galaxy raboras anyone? If pulchra can be bred (which they have been) then the imports can slow down a little, protecting them. How big are yours?

Im will try and breed them when they are mature enough at the moment they are about 5".

I'm also going try and breed the assam's and Bangkenesis. The ornatipinnis is from a group my friend has got to attempt breeding, im looking after it until they are at breeding age.

How large are you expecting them to get? 12"? No one really knows yet.

I'm going to be trying to get hold of a group of Channa to try and breed, will need a little move around to make space but it shouldn't be that hard. Not decided on a species, will need to be a dwarf species though, around the 8" mark.

Good luck with the breeding. How many ornatipinnis does he have?
