Hey all,
Read a topic lately about airation, and air pumps Vs. filter. I thank airation is the proper word lol :)

I currently have a Fluval filter, and the jet of water out of it is my only means of airation at the min.
I'm changing though to an external filter, and as far as I know, the pipes don't generally agitate the water at top.
The topic I read said that air pumps don't sufficiently agitate the water enough to allow good airation, so what other options are there??? I do have an air pump, but don't use it cos it vibrates and makes a real annoying humming noise :( lol

any help or suggestions greatly appreciated :)

My Fluval 305 external causes ripples on the top the water even though the outlet is mounted around 2" under the water line, don't know if this is enough agitation though.

Has the external got a spraybar? If it has just point it upwards slightly and you will get you agitation!
