Hi all,

I've had a tank set up for a few months.

Its the TetraArt 60l with the EasyCrystal filter box 300 hang-on-back. In the maintenance instructions it says the filterpack should be changed every month. One spare came with it, but that its now coming to the end of its month. I've ordered a couple more spares but here's the question:

Is it really necessary to change them that often? Or is it some "advice" to ensure a constant sale of spares? The packs aren't particularly cheap (£7ish) so whilst I can afford it i'm just trying ot find out if it is necessary.

Cheers

Dan

Hi Dan,

I'd say not necessary - I've got the TetraArt 30L, and have only changed the filter pad for the first time last week (bought the tank last November). I just rinse the pad out in old tank water when doing a change and keep an eye on the condition of it.

i do exactly what kim does

in fact i just wrap filter floss round the plastic frame whan it is in a bad condition

Hey there, you can see pics of my tank on my photopucket link in my sig. I'd like to see what people have done with the same tank too..... I'm really quite pleased with how mine look being a first tank and all.

I couldn't quite decide on the "bell" in there cos i was thinking of going for the totally natural look, but i think in this case it look ok, and the fish like hiding in there too....
