Changing Filter Foams

i'm running my tank on a fluval 3, i no not to change all the filter media altogether as i'll lose all benificial bacteria, so how shud i replace it? the filter splits into 2 halfs so shud i just replace one half thn the other in a few weeks time? just confirming, bit of a noob question so excuse me lol, cheers shaun

hi, you only need to replace it when it starts falling apart.

aye only carbon needs to be replaced, many people only every use carbon to remove meds from the tank or if the water is a bit cloudy, teh same goes with polishing pads they just neaten up teh water clarity

as stated only replace them if they are falling apart or no longer fit in teh holders anymore and then only replace em one at a time
