Changing A Filter From A Marine To A Tropical Tanks

As the title says, I plan on taking a filter previously used on a marine tank and using it on my Tropical tank. I am just wondering if this is ok to do, I had a doubting thought that maybe this could be dangerous for some reason, hence why I am consulting you guys

I plan on deep cleaning the whole filter, then I will remove the marine bio-filter and add filter media from my current tropical filter. Will that be ok?

I'd appreciate any responces.

Yes there are no problems doing that. Just rinse everything well and let it dry off. As long as you get the salt off that's all that really matters. I've done this numerous times as I switch back and forth between marine and fresh it seems every few years.
