does anyone know anything about chaetomorpha? i mean lighting, cultivating and optimal water conditions? i just got some off ebay for my sump and none of my lfs no much about it.
I have some in my sump. I keep the sump lit 24/7 and when it grows to large i simply take some out (i usually place this in the main tank as my tang loves it)
Its not a very demanding algea and grows very fast. far more stable than Caulerpa IMO
Cheato in my tank grows like a mat. When it starts to encroach into the areas of other macro algeas i have then i simply rip it out.
I place my spare cheato in the main tank as Tang food but you could just as easily place it in a sump or any other tank to cultivate more.
Grow enough of hte stuff and you can get credit at your lfs im sure. (i have made a small fortune out of selling pulsing xenia like this )
