Chaeto

Mine sinks. I think the floating may be due to a large mass having more algae supporting underneath.

I know the mass is supposed to "tumble" or spin but whats a good way to get it to do that? I have the outlet from my canister in that chamber to create a little extra flow but still no tumbling...maybe I need a lesson in fluid dynamics or is there a trick that I dont know?

i dont think tumbling or spinning is needed, as long as water is actually going through it...

Mine just sits at the bottom of my fuge all covered in cyano etc and I'm constantly thinking its dieing but it always seems to have grown a little everytime I see it, and my nitrates are low so I'm assuming its not dead just yet! ;)

heh, mine too floats in one spot due to the fact that I use it as an air trap :). Its just fine if it floats stationary. Lighting is more important than flowrate

No need, and if you did that, you'd just get air bubbles trapped in it and it would float anyways ;)

Oh, lol, well it doesn't really matter if it floats or sinks... Mine floats in one orientation and fills down without any rotating
