i have an aqua one 620 t and i am using the ceramic bobbins in the filter boxes for bacteria growth. What i need to know is how long do they last and when they should be replaced?

I've never changed em. They should be last in the filtration and have the cleanest water so dont get dirty anyway.

The aquaone setup guides state that the ceramic noodles are between the course filrter medai (black foam) and the fine white filter wool.

This is how mine are set up, and while they get dirty, I don't worry too much about it, as it is not going to get through the fine filter wool below it.

As for how long they last, they will eventually erode, but this will take years - I actually use a mix of the cerramic noodles and plastic bio balls which have a larger surface are for bacteria to grow on.

(BTW, my tank is an aquaone AR980)

You can clean them. I have my ceramic pipes in a bag inside my filter. If they get too dirty I just rinse them in some old aquarium water when I do a waterchange. I don't think they'll need replacing.

Hi Piltdownpaul

Can I add a question to your thread?

Do you like your Aqua One tank?

I'm considering a 300L bow fronted Aqua One tank and any opinions would be handy , its for a community tropical setup.

BTW Piltdown is 13 miles from me in East Sussex, is there a piltdown in leciester too?
