I am planning ahead and thinking
of a centre piece fish for my tank - it is likely to be sharing my 125 litre tank (33 us gallons I think) with a small shoal of ruby barbs and a small shoal of Neon rainbow fish.

I am looking for a single fish or a pair that won't grow much bigger than 8cm as I think anything bigger is too big for my tank.

The problem I have is I have medium to soft water and a PH of around 7.5 so not really ideal conditions for any fish.

Wouldn't want to keep Angels as they are too big and in my opinion dull.

The best idea I've had so far is a pair of Bolivian Rams who I believe are the hardier of the dwarf chicilids. These are what I am going with unless anyone a) thinks they will be a problem or b) can come up with something with more colour.

I think the bolivian rams would be the perfect choice. Kribs would be another good choice. Another fish you might consider would be a pair of paradise fish.

Paradise fish look a bit 'finny' for my liking would be worried about them with my shoalers.

But will definitely look at the other two though.

Thanks!
