I'm looking for a centre piece fish for my 20g community aquarium. Something that is compatible with Zebras danios (1Inch), otos(Slightly under 1"), guppies (2females 1"), and corys (small green corys). I was thinking Gouramis or Angelfish (Juvenile), and other suggestions? Preferably very nicely colored and 2"-4" in size, and can live by itself.

any other suggestions other than gouramis?
Nope :D I have a male in my 20g with zebras, ottos, well you can read my sig. Nice fish. Barring that you could go for a pair of dwarf cichlids (Like Kribs or Apistos) but I'd check with an expert first to make sure they won't butt heads with the cories. I think angels is asking for trouble. It kind of commits you to buying a bigger tank. If you go with angels I hope those danios are fast!

I would avoid angels, they get so large and can get really narked with smaller fish!

I love honey gouramis, they are so hardy and cute and bumble about!! A pair or two of those would be nice, i intend to have 2 yellow and 2 red!

all the dwarf gouramis i have had have been bother..... attacking each other then when removed attacking everything else! i even had to remove my remaining dg from my main tank as it was bullying 3 large angels that are 4x the size of him................ i may just have bully dg's but i wouldnt get another, its in my qt tank at the minute with 4 corys

How about a paradise fish?
I dont think that is a good idea, as i had 2 and they are anti social and agressive fish. thay do not go with fish very well and if there is to many fish or fish that are alot kwicker than they are they will just get stressed. Very attractive fish though. :)

i would never put a cichlid in a community tank , they need space and territories.

what about a male betta?
a male betta is a deffo no no in a comunity tank, it will just hide and not live a nice life.
i had german blue rams in my com tank not so long ago and they were fine so bolivian or german blues should be ok :good:

No not all cichlid are aggressive. The dwarfs keep to them self and really they will only show aggression to other cichlids. Rams are very peacful. Laetacara dorsigerus "Smiling Acara" , dwarf flag cichilds, and Nannacara anomala "Golden Dwarf Cichlid"
those are Few small peacful cichlids that would be fine. Some cichlids are shy and get bullied by other fish.

There are 1,000 of kinds of cichlids to say they are all aggressive is just wrong.
