Celestial Pearl Danio's! I Need Some!

Hey, I found 'Celestial Pearl Danio's' on the internet the other day and I think they're really attractive fish. Also my name is Dan, so I like DANio's anyway but aswell as that my nickname is 'Galaxy' and this is also included in their scientific name, or something like that! To get to the point does anyone know if they can be kept in an aquarium because the only information I can find is that they're a relatively newly-discovered fish....thanks 8)

they're a newly discovered fish that is sadly now nearly extinct due to overfishing, they were enormously popular when they were first found (summer last year) so someone saw £££ signs and exported them by the truckload. Unfortunatley the sudden decrease int eh natural population ahs lead to problems and now I believe they are not alloowed to be exported anymore.

Plenty of people in the UK have them but you're unlikely to find them in the shops, if you do get some make sure that the are tank bred not wild caught.

They were discovered in 2006 and were quickly overfished. None are being exported anymore but you may be able to find locally bred ones.

Thanks guys.... I'd really like some. It's a real shame about the overfishing, nearly extinct in jus 2 years, thats ridiculous enit!!! Does anyine know of anywhere near Mid Wales where I could get some tank-bred Galaxy Rasbora! 8)

Course these guy's are relativity expensive, and there's the added postage that will be at least £10.

If your community tank fish are bigger than the danio's then they may become food for the bigger fish.

The danio's are quite small and really they should only be housed with smaller fish, if you have blue gourami's or anything like that they will be eaten.

well the largest fish in our tank are dwarf gourami's so that shouldn't be a problem surely? 8)
