Caves

I'm doing a pottery course at my local adult college I have made two "Caves" for my tanks very successful the fish love them they moved in the same night when I put them in the tank.

i made caves for my cichlid tank using layers of slate stacked up and bonded together with aquarium silicone.

:good:

I have also made caves from slate like this one.

I have also used "broken" flower pots as caves. To break it where you want, simply tap lightly over and over along a line where you want the break to happen. It will eventually break along that line. The tapping makes tiny cracks in the material and it eventually reaches a state where the tiny cracks join into a break line.

An even simpler cave is simply a flower pot laid on its side.

^^ interesting, hadn't thought about tapping it till it breaks. that requires patience and faith that you'll get the desired result :p

I attacked a couple of terracotta pots with a dremel. cut one in half (makes 2 caves) and cut a square hole in another. made lots of terracotta dust and was quite impressive.

I made my caves out of coconuts https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2784661059935&set=a.2328846104846.2136864.1360514796&type=1&theater

Possibly the worst "cave" i have ever seen, but good advice for making them :D
