I fell out of my chair when I saw this betta. Then a saw the $15 price tag and had an epifany. But I saw it was in Thailand and I had a heart attack. I'll post his page on aquabid if you want me to.

wait... you found that on aquabid? you think the color was altered with photoshop? i thought there weren't any solid purple bettas.

if it is guarenteed to come here looking like that I'll put $15 down

...actually looking at it, those scales do look a little too...you know, defined...

Where are you seeing purple?
Looks metallic, possibly with red undertones, to me. I'm thinkin' a lot of the colour you see in that pic has to do with the lighting.

dont buy from him! iv seen a number of his auctions and in quite a few they display that exact same picture, just differant colors added to the fish. as far as i know, the only solid purples you can find would be a lighter blue, or dark redish color. the picture is a dead give away. if u look in teh backround, you can see the silicone lineing of the tank has also been given a purplish tint, just like the fish. the betta's eyes are also purple, which i find odd because iv never heard of a betta with purple eyes. the fish is too good to be true, sry :/

I agree that it is probably the lighting. He looks like some type of copper mix to me. I am soposed to be getting a couple very dark purple betta's from a breeder in Thailand soon.

If I can get me computer working right, I'll post pics.

I believe these puple I'm getting, is linked to copper, and will, breed true (I hope)

uh..you can find solid purple fish all the time on AB. They can be expensive though.

You shouldn't suggest people not buy from a breeder unless you have had bad dealings with them yourself, or someone you know personally (not hersay from another forum). OR check their feedback and see if there are negative comments..and what they were.

I don't think you would appreciate that if it were you being talked about...because something your fish posessed didn't look like anything the person bad mouthing you hadn't seen before. :/

It's a pretty fish, but I agree I don't see any purple...if anything you might be getting some color off the overhead lighting..probably plant grow bulbs..they cast of a blue-ish/purple-ish tone.

It looks like a copper or platinum to me..since the scales are so pronounced. That's just how they look. I believe it has to do with them having a black underlayer with the mettalic layer over it.

I borrowed this pic from Gill (it's in his signature)

(Gill..if you want me to remove it..just let me know and I will..:) )
I believe that is a copper, might not be...he (or anyone else that knows) can correct if I am wrong.
But notice how the scales are defined prominately.

There are several metallics shown in this thread

That also have the dominating scales as well.
