Cute haha :good:

If it's a goldfish then I feel sorry for it, as well as the Oscar.
If I remember correctly, fish that readily eat goldfish are at harm because goldfish contain thiaminase, an enzyme that destroys Vitamin B1 and when fed in large quantities cause nutritional imbalances. Not to mention bacterial and parasite infections that could be carried.
Nice markings on the Oscar though.

####,

They are fine and have been fine for the last 5 Years. Yes they are gold fish, feeder fish the store would call them. My Oscars are very healthy and I am aware of what can happen to them when feeding them fish rather then other Oscar foods.

They do not really like pellet food or things like that. However I am not new to keeping fish and aware of what COULD happen. THey love there tank and there 1 time a week meal of feeders. I do attempt to feed pellets and what not during the week but they usually do not eat much.

5 years old? No offense, but they still look like juveniles. Not only that, the tank looks awfully cloudy, how big is it? Whats your water change schedule?

I think the reason why your fish don't eat pellets is because you have enabled them not to. Fish like live food better then dry food any day, so they turn their noses up on the dry food.

If you HAVE to feed feeders, try something more nutritious like live bearers. Gut load them with good nutritious foods like frozen, dry and even some vegetation.

Going to have to question this, oscars eat anything. If your oscar doesn't like pellet food then they must be ill or something. Don't feed the oscar for a week then watch how he 'doesn't like pellet food'.

Agreed, Healthy One year old Oscars will normally be considerably larger than what your pics show,
But tbh given their Juvi markings are still so vivid I'm going to come out and say I reckon that they in fact under a year old.

I know, but something smells fishy to me

They dont look to be much larger than 4-5" max, but thats just my perception.

The sig says a lot too!!!!!

How can you say this when it could be a number of other factors ie the camera, the light, smears on the glass....

If you think that the tank looks cloudy because of "smears on the glass" then by all means go a head and think that.

lol at that

you can tell by body shape they are young cos Oscars get to be gog bulky brutes as they grow as we all know

Plus as someone said above if their is a greedier fish than an oscar I.m yet to see it!!!

Why is it that whenever somebody posts a picture of a fish eating another fish, everybody has to give their 2cents about why it's wrong and why the poor little goldfish should live.

As a hobbyist it's our responsibility to take care of our OWN fish, not everybody elses. I find the pics cute, and the oscars are BEAUTIFUL! But seriously people, we all have to realize that in the wild the big fish will eat the small fish, and if we're trying to recreate any species natural enviroment, then feeding them goldfish weekly isn't a terrible thing.

Dave, nice tank, the water is a bit cloudy. How often and how much water do you change? Also, what size is the tank?
