Please tell me which type of catfish you think are better IYHP(In your honest opinion). I'm looking to get 1 or two, and I would like to know which kind I should get.

Thanks and God Bless.

They are all pretty cool, but which type you decide on depends alot on your tank size and filtration. Many of the common non-corydora and non-pleco catfish get very very large, and are not suitable for most home aquariums. I don't know much else about them, sorry, but you can check out the catfish section of the forum for more information.

Cories are good for cleaning up leftover food that drifts to the bottom, and are fun to watch. They need to have more of thier own kind, though, and you shouldn't have under 4, though a minimum of 6 is perferable. They also need sand substrate because they they locate food by sifting through the sand with their barbels, and gravel can hurt thier barbels.

Plecos can get large if you are not careful of which species you buy (sailfins and commons get over a foot long, while a bristlenose stay under 6 inches), and are messy, so they require heavy filtration. They will clean most types of algae, and can starve if there is not enough food for them. (Its wise to wait to add them until there is actually algae in the tank- don't add them early unless you are sure to feed them algae wafers so they don't starve.)

Thats all pretty basic info- you can check out the catfish section of the forum for more specific info. :good:

i didn't post this in the catfish section cuz there isn't a general spot for the catfish section...

Yes, thats ok. :) I just meant that if you happened across a certain species that you liked, you could get more specific info on it in the catfish section.

Oh, I meant to ask about your tank. If I knew the size, filtration, and what other fish you have, it would be easier to suggest what catfish you could get.

lol, I'm getting a 46 gallon bowfront tank. and it will have a big filter in it.. the filter is identical to this one and it will have a double cartridge...

Like others said i love boths, but cmon panda corys are so cute!!!!!! I just cant resist corys, they are so nice and peaceful!

Ok, certainly a fair-sized tank! :) You could do both plecs and cories. If you did a sand substrate, you could have some pepperd cories (my favorite) or whatever type of cory you perfer, and you could even have a pleco, too. In the pleco section, there is a sticky that talks about smaller plecos. Just be sure to research the type if pleco beforehand. A common or a sailfin would grow too large for your tank, but there are many other interesting species you could choose.

I am going to vote for pleco because I just love Mr Angry Eyes, my BN Pleco.

^^^^ I'm with you; I love my bristlenose too. Plecs for me, all the way! Whether it's a monster common or a bristlenose or the small otos... I love them all.

Love them both, can't choose. With a 46 gallon, you have a good range of choice, between pretty well any school of corydoras or one of the smaller plecs/whiptails etc. Obviously if you want them to do a job- i.e. eat algae- then that will limit your choice. Corys don't eat algae at all and some of the pretty new plecs don't eat a lot. And no plec eats all kinds.

It depends really what your looking for. A biggish fish that lives by itself. Or smaller playful fish in a group of no less then 3. I voted for corys. But choosing which catfish to get depends on the size of your tank.

There is no way to decide in a general selection like this. I like cories for their size and sociability but plecs offer a more interesting variety in color, size and activity as well as the other non-cory, non-plec species.

corys their peaceful and very cute, not too big and theones i have are quite active and like attention from me. :)
