thats frickin amazin!! how the heck did you get pictures of pictus catfish?? i've never been able to do it lol they're too fast!

also, how old are those? they seem to be abit older than mine.
i'm just askin because i started off with 3, the smaller one died (unknown reason) and the second smaller one had it's whiskers bitten off by the biggest, which caused it to died.
but like i said, they seem abit older than mine when all that went on so things should be fine, but just a precaution

ur right about them being fast, but the one in most of the pictures likes to slowly patrol the tank, like a shark, they are both about a year old, same size, and except for an occasional freak out over food they get along nicely, believe it or not they are actually a group fish, about 4 iv been told is a good number however that will have to wait till the bigger tank gets here

BTW: they both are about 5 inches long(minus the whiskers), its hard to tell in the picture

yerav heard they're a group fish but many people, such as myself, have been unsuccessful at keeping them in a group. but thankfully i've still got one left and it's a brute lol

that is very interesting, although i can see how keeping them in groups could be violent, they definitely have their moments when it sounds like world war 3 is going on for a few seconds in my tank, all i hear is the gravel moving around a lot, kinda a freaky noise. that makes me question my future plans...

can I ask what specifically happened to ur cats, like how did they start to act and how many where there etc...

i dont know how old they were exactly but i'd had them for about 4-5 months. they were in the same tank at the lfs and i bought them together. they seemed to be fine since i got them, like searching around their new tank together and sharing the same hiding place.

but then i woke up one morning and the smallest seemed to be gasping for air and it's skin was all patchy and it's eyes were a little dull... the fish just looked like it was ready to die so i cornered off a section of the tank so it didn't have to fight the water flow so it could die in peace.
when it died, this being the first case of a dying pictus catfish, i tried fishing it out with a net... ruining the net! the fish got stuck in there and i had to cut it out. theres a tip! nets and pictus cats don't mix lol

anyways... i had 2 left. a few days after the first death, i noticed there was abit of agro between them. i figured they were the same size, not much difference anyway, so i left them to it. this was in the morning so i had to go to college too.
i got back from college, checked the fish and found the smaller one with no whiskers. it was floating around, struggling to swim and being the nice person i am, i again cornered off a section of the tank to give it some peace while it died.

now i have one left and it seems to be doing well. no signs of any poisoning or other reasons for these fish to die.

wow, that is really crazy, mine definitely have their moments but they have never hurt each other
