There is no way that is an S. ocellifer. Unless the image is really messed up, that fish is definitely the decorus. The tail markings, hump on the back, and the spots themselves look nothing like the ocellifer's. Decorus have flaged tails, like the one in the picture, ocellifer do not. Decorus also have elongated mouths (circled in the picture) with white whiskers and ocellifer do not.

I seriously think you should compare these two species again. Another obvious difference is that ocellifer only gets 7"... clearly smaller than your fish.

I may sound a bit obsessive, since most synos are basically the same, but having kept a decorus for years, I know what they look like and that definitely is one.

you know your catfish!!!

 Just synos and other cats, really. I just knew right away it was a decorus, so I defended my conclusion.

Either way, enjoy the fish. I had to get rid of mine because he was competing too much with my bichirs. :( I was sad to see him go, but I know that he is in a nice African tank now. I raised him since he was less than 2" and when I got rid of him, he was at least 10".

Its possible its one of the hybrids in the trade at the moment.

I'd say definitely a true Decorus, it looks 100% right to my untrained eye.
