cat problem

well another update :my step sister did not but special brand of cat food which specifies those who suffer from UTI
anyof you guy can name a brand of kitty food that helps treat and prevent UTI's will be greatly appreciated

Most vets sell food for cats that will help with certain ailments. The first food that springs to mind is Science Diet. There are many varieties, they would just have to find the kind that helps UTI. I am sure the vet can recommend some that would be very good. Good luck with him and keep us updated please.

We carry Purina Veterinary Diets at work. I personally have my cat on UR because she's had ongoing urinary problems since she was about 6.

But UR would be the best thing, not something over the counter that you can get at petco or petsmart. A vet diet is best. Consult with your vet first because UR is targeted more specifically for cats with crystals.

Clinical Considerations
The role of dietary management in struvite-related Feline Lower Urinary Tract Diseases (LUTD) is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient. Feeding a properly formulated diet designed to encourage acidification of urine can help reduce the formation of struvite crystals and stones while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal. Because not all cases of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease are associated with struvite crystals or stones, it is important to conduct appropriate diagnostic tests before implementing dietary management.

Diet Characteristics
Purina Veterinary Diets® UR Urinary® brand Feline Formulas provide complete and balanced nutrition for adult maintenance and have been formulated to achieve the following characteristics:

Urinary acidification
Increased potassium
High digestibility
Increased taurine

Any good vet should be able to recommend a specific diet. Without knowing the exact nature of the UTI and the blood results & tests, you should not go by a brand of food any of us recommend.
There are mainly two types of crystals - Struvite or Oxalate. There are certain brands of food that caters specifially for either of those crystals.
Here is a very good article (though it's quite medical) but here's a good summary from it:

"The two most common stone types in cats are struvite and calcium oxalate. Struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) urolithiasis and urethral obstruction have been induced experimentally in healthy cats by feeding diets containing three to ten times the amount of magnesium found in commercial cat foods. These studies led to the conclusion that magnesium was a primary cause of naturally occurring struvite urolithiasis in cats. It subsequently was learned that struvite stones in the bladder of healthy cats fed large quantities of magnesium dissolved when the urine pH was reduced to approximately 6.0. These results suggested that magnesium’s effect on struvite formation depended on the urine pH, an idea supported by the finding that the form of magnesium used in previous studies had increased the urine pH."

So it really just depends on what's available where you live.
Also keep in mind that these specialised diets are much more expensive - but if it's for the wellbeing of the pet, it's not really an option is it ?

good news. he is gonna be ok but i am going to have to retrain him to use the litter box.
we got meds for him so i gotta keep him isolated for a month

Fab news ! I'm sure the vet already told you, but you'll have to keep a very close eye on him for his entire life now - once a cat's had a UTI, it has a tendency to reoccur.

You are right on that one bloozoo2 once they have had it once they do often reoccur. I am glad to hear your kitty is better.

he is upset right now cuz he is in a cage but it is for his well being i still got my fingers crossed that it wont hust get better for a little bit and then get even worse :(
