hi guyz and girls it has been a while since ive been on here but i got a cat who has a UTI and we had him on some antibiotics but he doesnt seem to be getting anybetter. my stepmom has lost hope and is considering putting him down which i dont want. is there any hopes in saving my beloved kitty.
besides the only pet i got is my black lab and they get along fine so that puts out territoriality.
HELP PLEASE  :-(

What has the vet said? That's your best bet. How old is the cat? Did your vet make the diagnosis? If so...what tests did they do?

So sorry to hear your kitty isn't responding to meds :/
Only your vet can and will give you the best advice. However....... if you cat is in pain (UTI is very painful :( ) and has been suffering for a while now - and the vet cannot see it getting any better, then there might very well be only the one option left :-(
How old is your cat ?

What are feeding your cat?? Some foods causes that. So if I were you I would check into it..I feel sorry for your cat.I will ask my vet which kind it is and let you know. But that is the problem.

i believe he is either 5,6,or 7 im not too sure.ill ask my dad how old he is and my stepsister is gonna take him to a vet clinic in austin texas so i got my fingerz crossed  :-(

Let us know what the vet says. I'll be thinking of you, your family and your cat.
Keep us informed and let us know if there is anything else that you find out or discover. I'll try and do some research in the mean time, see what I can dig up.

sorry about your cat and i hope the vet has good news for you. maybe its a stone somewhere in the bladder.

My cat has dental problems and the vet recommended "Science Diet Oral Care" which is more expensive than regular cat food but helps her teeth (yes, it does work)....when buying the last lot of food for her I saw food designed for cats with urinary tract infections. When your cat overcomes this bad bout perhaps you might like to consider something like that to maybe prevent it.

My sons friend posted this about the food I am not for sure on this but I really think that my vet told me that some foods causes UTI in cats. I will call her tomorrow and ask..

Foods that are high in ash(I am almost 100% sure it is ash), can cause urinary problems in cats. I am not sure if it is UTI or something else like a blocked urinary tract. My cat had a problem years ago when I was younger. It was either a UTI or a blocked urinary tract. What I remember was seeing him trying to pee and crying because it hurt. We took him to the vet and he told us it was caused by the food we were feeding him. We changed to Science Diet, and never had a problem again. We were also told that it is more common in male cats I don't remember his explanation of why that was.

I would go back to your vet and get their opinion, but I would also change what you are feeding him. Sometimes it is worth spending a little bit more for quality food.

called my stepsister and she told me that the vet had found 4 types of bacteria in the urine and had the anti biotics for the first major bacterium and then another dose for the second major but this was a while back so im not too sure. we have both dog and cat food in big containers so i cant get the ingredient list but once i get another bag ill check the list

A cat wtih UTI must certainly go on a special diet. They should not eat the "standard" food. Your vet however should (I expect) have advised you about this.
All the best.
