Cat Missing - Keighley

I hope he comes back soon. I had a similiar experience about 6 months ago. One of my cats got out. She had never been outside, unless it was to go to the vet or I was holding her. She was gone about a month and eventually found her way back. Im sure yours will too :)

So sorry to hear Dodge has gone missing, hope he comes back soon.

My nanas cat was jus a kitten when he first went out and he immediatly ventured into teh opposite garden which is huge...we thought he had gone into the woods opposite but then found out he had been sleeping in the wendy house next door...the neighbours round my end feed yer cats... he was gone for a few hours but he was jus a wee kitten so we got pretty scared.

I can understand why your getting worried bout Dodge when he doesn't like the outdoors. Cats are clever creatures i'm sure he will find his way back soon.

Thanks very much all of you!

We're back from our walkabout. Fantastic news - 3 sightings of him since he went missing, all but one concentrated in one area about 2 streets away, the other sighting down the beck which runs behind our house down to where the other sightings were. It's possible according to one witness that someone's feeding him/keeping him down that street. Another person who happily took a flyer said their neighbour has a reputation for taking in cats, which seemed to ring true as there were a few hanging round there. Last sighted at 8.30am this morning, so we're going back down later when it's darker. Lots of flyers handed out, and lots of people keeping their eyes peeled for us. Posters up in one of the local shops, although the other was less nice about it and told me to stick it on a lamppost so he didn't have to bother.

That's excellent news ! I'm sure it really wont be long now. All fingers crossed :good:

Edit: I didn't mention in my first post, but I actually found my cat (the first one that went missing) in someone's house who decided to just take him  and completely ignore the collar & phone number he had on even. It was only because another neighbour told me to check with that lady. Honestly - some people !

Oh - and another cat of mine years ago - our *vet* rang us! Said "have you rehomed your cat then" - because someone also decided to just take her - and took her to the vet for a checkup (how nice of them - because she was super fit and healthy). Collar and all. So I went by the house, knocked on the door and said "can I have my cat back please". The lady was so astound, she didn't say anything. Just handed my cat back

Sorry to vent a little here about history - but it just goes to show that it's not always the obvious when a cat goes missing.

Bless him, good luck.

Good Luck :good:

I have had bad experiences with my cat since he's an outdoor cat. The neighbor's kids kept torturing him . Once he went missing. We put up lots of posters until he just came back (he had only been gone 2 days, but I was worried sick  ) We forgot to take out the posters and people kept calling us saying that they saw our cat!

If people have been seeing him around it's likely he'll come back, don't worry :)

fantastic news Kathy, he'll be home and safe soon then :good:

it's shocking that people just decide to kindly 're-home' your cat for you :grr: there's a bloke round our way who's got about 15 cats (in a 1 bedroom terraced house, dunno how!) and everyone always goes there if a cat goes missing. :grr:

Thanks for all your replies!

Well, we went out again last night hoping the fact that it was quieter and dark would help coax him out of hiding. No luck sadly :( No signs whatsoever, although there were tonnes of cats about, especially concentrated around the house we were told about. The cats there looked in immaculate condition, so if he has been there I would imagine he's been well looked after, although I doubt they have him as we put a flyer through the door and have had no response as yet.

We've been told about another lady up our street that feeds local cats, apparently that's how she got all of hers. What's wrong with people getting their own bloomin' pets. :( Needless to say, we'll be checking her out.

We put food out again last night and it was half eaten when we got up. I seriously doubt it's Dodge eating it, as he wouldn't leave any (he's a big cat and it was only half a tin).

No response from the posters or flyers as yet. To be honest, most of the responses when we handed them out were good and helpful, but a lot were completely bemused about why we were even bothering. One lady said "Corr you really must love your cat if you can be bothered looking for him when you most likely won't find him."

Its only 5 days and I'm feeling a huge sense of anticlimax after yesterday's sightings and then last night's failure to find him. I know some people must think we're quite sad for looking, but I can't sleep or eat knowing he's out there alone. :( I'm past caring what those people think, Dodge is a family member and we'd no more leave him lost than we would one of our kids. :(

Don't worry Kathy about what other people think.
Our cat is a house cat and we'd be devastated if we lost her. She is part of the family and it wouldn't be the same without her.
I know it's easy to say but don't give up hope. I'm sure he's fine and it won't be long before you find him.
Good luck and I'll be thinking of you.

not sad at all Kathy, when Mitts ran off I was out looking for her all the time. Course he's one of the family.

It is crazy that people just rob other people's pets like that, but as you said at least they're well cared for so if he's there he'll be getting fed.

have you knoced on the door of that house and spoken to them?

Sorry to read about Dodge. I do not own cats as I couldn't deal with them if it was a outside cat... I own all inside pets and would stress about it so often.

Thanks Quo - Dodge is an indoor cat (as all three are due to much the same reasoning as you posted), so you can imagine our fear. :(

Alice - I knocked but there was no answer. I'll be trying again today.

stang1 - thanks for your post. Not giving up yet. Keep reminding myself it's only been 5 days, but it feels like an eternity when you know they're not safe out and about. I think I'd feel a lot differently if he was streetwise.

Anyhoo thanks all of you, best get out there looking again. :good:
