is it normal for a cat fish to float upside down on the surface of the water when he is fully alive

what size tank?
what are your ammonia, nitrate and nitrats?
what other fish are in the tank?

No it isnt. There something wrong.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Does the cat fish look bloated or thin.
Does he look pale or darker in colour.
Any red sores or red streaking on his body.
Hows the cat fish breathing.

is it swimming upside down on the surface of the tank? because a few catfish do this or is it actually just floating there? because thats nor normal

or synodontis nigriventis or upsidedown cat.. also if other spicies may be hungry and desperatly in need of food. try small cat pellets at night when lights go out
