I seen a cat fish in the lfs today, it didnt have no name but it looked like an earth worm, and it dug down into the gravel.

I was thinking of getting one or two of these but i want to do some info on them first like do they need to be kept in groups, do they get on with other fish and do they need a certain gravel

Thanks in advance

Hey there, what your describing sounds like a Kuhli loach, give it a google.

There best kept in groups of 3 or more on a sand substrate to thrive.

Hi there dont bother spending money on Kuhli loachs you will never see them!! Had them in one of my tanks before all they do is stay out of site.

Sounds like a Kuhli loach - not a catfish.

I saw my striped once quite a lot and they were very active. But I do believe the brown ones are a lot shyer.

Thats what they are, and if they are never seen then i aint goin to bother then,
Thanks

if you get a good groupe of 10 fish then yes the will hide alot but your seen them from time to time and their lovely fish and interesting to watch.

wehave 15 in total - when they were young we saw them all the time...
now they are all grown up - you only see their heads sticking out of their hiding holes...
until feeding time when you might sew a few of them "risk" coming out.

I have 6 Black Kuhlies and I see them all the time. You just have to provide more hiding places, so they feel secure.

Aye, I agree with n3ont3tra..... I have 5 of them, they have lots of hideing places and they are out and about atleast 50% of the time.Very cool little guys, they do some funny stuff, like all swim around like mad men, then one will drop to the sand and all the rest will "pig pile" on him.
