i read somewhere that carbon in the filter for discus can cause problems i have some in mine at the moment in my other tank i use it but dont leave it for more than a fortnite in case it dumps.is it differnt for discus ? should i take it out of discus filter?does anyone with discus use it or not use it helllllp im worried now
oh by the way the discus are doing just great they just love there food and im lovin them i find im getting up in the night to check on them am i nuts or do others do this

Why are you running carbon in your filter ? My friend has discus and does use carbon, but only for a while, to remove meds, colouration etc. I wouldnt run it all the time though, no need.

oh, the water was discoloured from some bogwood i kno the fish dont mind but i do.so its ok to run it occasionally but not for long thanks for that i just read that it was harmfull to discus and freeked out

After a certain amount of time it will start to leach the chemicals it has absorbed back into the water column. Thats the only reason not to use it 24/7.

I use it once in a while if i see a slight discolouration (tannins) in the water. You can reactivate carbon in the oven but i cant find the link for it, i will post it later if i can find it.

As Chris said, its good for removing tanic acid. The activated stuff in a pouch is better than the sponges.
But as said, dont leave it in more than a few days.
