I got some fish from the pet store and I noticed one had ick. I did not feel like going back to the store for an exchange so
I purchased an ick/ich away treatment formula. I read the back and it says 1 tsp for every 10 gal. Then it says to remove any carbon filter before use. I have a carbon filter. So how long should I wait before I set the filter back up after I put the ick medicine in my tank?

What kind of filter is it? Most filters have carbon inserts which will come out. Taking the filter out will remove your biological filter, which is just going to make things worse. Also when treating ick it is recommended to continue medication for two weeks after all spots have disappeared, or else it may come back.

I have a bio-wheel marineland filter. Yes, I can remove the carbon inserts. So does that mean If I remove the inserts I can still keep the filter running?

How long has the tank been running with the carbon inserts? If they have been in there for more than a couple days than they won't remove much of the medication.

I have had them in about 3 days. I took out the inserts a few min ago and I have everything else running. How long do I keep the inserts out for?
