Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice in using Aquarian + First Aid as I'm treating one of my fish for a wound. :-(

The bottle says to remove any activated carbon in my filter.

I have a Juwel Rekord 60 tank with a built in filter system that contains an active carbon sponge.

If I remove the carbon sponge what kind of effect is this going to have on my filtration? :dunno:

The medication bottle says that treatment should last 7 days and I'm worried that I might end up doing damage to my tank by removing the filter.

Any advice????

Thanks in advance

If you do not remove the carbon pad, it will remove the medicine from the water thus not helping your fish. The absolute best possible thing you can do is get a 10 gal tank at walmart or your LFS. They run about 10 bucks. Put the sick fish in there and treat that tank. This way you do not put undue stress on the fish and organisms in your main tank. It will also let the sick fish rest and not worry about bullying from other fish. The other thing you can do is remove the carbon pad. It will not hurt the tank to run without the carbon pad. If anything, you can replace the carbon pad with a polybag or pad. The key thing here is the carbon will nutralize the medicine.

Thanks Impur.

I'm going to our lfs tonight so will see what I can pick up while I'm there.
