JUST A WARNING THATS IT REALLY HARD TO READ POSTS WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPITALS AND USE NO PUNCTUATION AND THEN MAKE THE FONT SIZE REALLY FRIGGING HUGE AND BOLD WE CAN READ IT FINE IF IT HAS PUNCTUATION AND IN A NORMAL SIZE ITS LIKE YOUR SCREAMING AT US I DONT LIKE PEOPLE TO SCREAM AT ME ITS KIND OF ANNOYING THEREFOR IM NOT GOING TO REPLY TO SOMEONE THAT YELLING AT ME

Translation:

Just a warning for everyone: It's very hard to understand what you type when the font size is very large and in capitals. Its much easier to read when there IS punctuation and the font is at a normal size. And since its hard to understand/read, I can't answer the question because I don't know what the question is!

Oh and learn how to spell.

I am not sure it is a thing that needs moderation. I AM ALSO IRRITATED BY PEOPLE SHOUTING LIKE THAT.

Crikey, my ears are ringing!

i am dyslexic and deaf and i can understand that
fully actually its easy for me to read

Im actually on the other side of the fence on this one. I dont understand why it is such a big deal to type in caps. its just typing. I never had ever thought it was anything other than just typing in caps until someone pointed out to me that it is considered rude (shouting).I remember thinking, well thats stupid. how can you shout in text?
i need to use caps in my job when adding notes to accounts (they actually prefer us to use caps as its easier to read and looks neater/tidier-that aslo explains why I often do not capitalize the first letter of a sentence or the word "I", it is usually all in caps for me), and if I forget to take the cap lock off before sending someone an email or IM, its sad to think people would actually be offended.
Punctuation is a different story. We need to use sentences. It is difficult to understand when there are no periods, etc.
As for spelling i only sort of agree. true, computers give us a great tool called spell check, but some people are not computer savvy, very young, or in a hurry so cant go thru and fix typos. on the other hand, I find it really annoying when it is misspelled on purpose(like in lol catz). I dont think its cute. its ridiculous.
just my thoughts.
Cheers

CAPS is the solution to "how can you shout in text?"
I guess it goes back to the very beginning. then writing in CAPS, meant you were shouting. well the convention was, you were shouting. lets face it. if you write in CAPS it makes it stand out, or emphasises it. in much the same way as you, may, shout to (emphasise) get your point across.

i love the English language. but what makes it so rich, is its ability to change. one such change, is going on at the moment, with Written English. personally i dont see the problem with "lol catz". personal communication, like letters and now internet forums, have always had such things. though i hold this to be, perhaps, not so true at work.

IM SORRY THAT IT BOTHERS YOU I HAVE BEEN GUILTY IN THE PAST WILL TAKE NOTE OF IT I ALSO CANT STAND PEOPLE SPELLING WORDS WRONG AND WRITING STUFF LIKE "PLZ" I USUALLY ONLY USE LOWERCASE

Just to add a couple things to this...

1-Text speak is not appropriate on forums. Heck, I don't even think it's appropriate when texting, but then again, I have a full QWERTY keyboard on my phone, so I don't have to deal with the tedium of texting on just a number pad. However, if I have to ask my 19-year-old niece what a post on a forum says because it is in such indecipherable text speak, that's where I draw the line. It's gotten to the point that if I can't read what has been written without the help of a translator (my teenage niece or nephew), I don't even bother reading it...and that person, in turn, loses out on a lot of answers (not just from me, but from similarly annoyed forum members).

2-As a soon-to-be English teacher (and aspiring novelist), one of my biggest pet peeves is the mixing up of the various forms of to/too/two, their/there/they're, your/you're, and similar words (sorry, it's late and my brain has already gone to bed). I can understand it to an extent if you are a non-native English-speaker. However, in most cases that I've seen it is people who are native English-speakers who have the biggest problems with these words.

I can deal with caps. I can't deal very well with adults who should have better grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation, but apparently either didn't pay attention in school or choose not to use their brains.

Just my two cents.
