Cant Get My Convicts To Breed! !

i have 2 pairs of 2-3inch convicts in a 40g tank. each pair seem doing well as a couple but the females seem not interested in breeding. what should i do?
in the tank i have plenty of rock caves, and the males each has it own territory so no one is bothering the other. males seem interested but the females dont females have bright colors on thier bellys and fins. why not yet breeding??

Yes i am sure they are females coz of the pink bellys and all colors, the males are bigger and less colorfull.

2) How are the water stats?
3) What is your tank's temperature?
4) Have you done any water changes?
5) Have you given them Caves, bogwood and some flat surfaces?
6) How long have you been having your fishes?

I know of a guy that has water thats higher than 8 around here rarely ever does water changes and feeds a couple times a week and he has more convicts than he can get rid of. 2 55s 3 30s a 20 and a ten. All othing but convicts and plecs.

my convicts arent breeding either, although the amonia levels were pretty high for a little while there.

so what yagonna do with the young if the make it through? as mentioned, i do hope you have a plan of what you are going to do with them

I got a plan fo my HRPs, throw them in the goldfish pond, live food and I can get the survivors out in the winter, then throw them back in during late spring.
