can't get cured

Kirianna, the carbon is the little pouch of black gravelly looking stuff in your filter... What kind of filter do you have? Also, what kind of fish, how big is the tank, when did you buy them, etc etc...

I have a whisper 10 I think it's called. I have a swordtail, a neon, an angel (which I was hoping to move to our bigger tank we just purchased), a gourami, a chinese algea eater, and three black skirt tetras. (Yes, it's over-crowded, thus the purchase of the bigger tank that's currently cycling.)

It looks like all but the algea eater and the tetras have white spots. I just noticed them tonight. I even looked for stuff like this yesterday after reading about diseases and didn't see anything. Today, there are definitely white spots on those fish and my husband confirmed he sees them too, so it's not me just being paranoid.

I did a 30% water change yesterday and I know they looked fine when I did that. I had all the levels tested three times yesterday (both before and after the change) and the final test a few hours after the change showed all levels in the water were great (according to my test and the one the pet store did.)

Thanks for the help!!

~Kiri

Try what fish keeper sharks and angels said... I've only had ich once, on a single fish, who didn't make it... But that was because he was a cory and I didn't realize that I couldn't use salt on a cory :( I felt so bad afterwords :( Anywho, I use as little medication as possible. I might try a salt bath--just get a container, fill it with tank water and some salt (like I said I will check the exact concentration), and put your fish in there for a few minutes one at a time. Be careful though--there are some fish that will not tolerate salt, like my poor panda cory.

If you want to play it safe, there are a number of ich remedies availible at the LFS. However, make sure that whatever you end up buying is safe to use on all your fish.
